Youth and Sports Minister of Azerbaijan Azad Rahimov met Thursday with visiting President of International Olympic Committee Isidoros Kouvelos
Kouvelos noted in the meeting that rapid development of Azerbaijan had a good impression on him. Greece totally supports organization of the European Games in Baku. He noted Azerbaijan has great experience in conducting international events.
Kouvelos noted that the International Olympic Academy offers the 1.5-year master`s program on Olympic knowledge. According to him, Azerbaijani students will be able to study in the academy in the future.
Rahimov updated the President on the successes of Azerbaijani athletes. He pointed out that Azerbaijan has built about 40 Olympic sport complexes in recent years.
Rahimov pointed out that perfect organization of the World women`s U-17 football Cup in Baku is another indication of Azerbaijan`s great experience in holding such events. According to Rahimov, the World Chess Cup and International Chess Olympiad will be held here in 2015 and 2016 respectively.
The Minister said Azerbaijan filed its bid to host the fourth Islamic Solidarity Games in 2017 and is going to host the first European Games in 2015 in accordance with the decision of the General Assembly of the European Olympic Committee.
The delegation of the Academy are scheduled to visit the Azerbaijan State Academy of Physical Culture and Sport, Tofiq Bahramov Stadium, Baku Tennis Academy, Musado sport center and Icherisheher.
