A news conference on the start of the campaign of national support to Baku bid for hosting 2020 Olympic Games has been held today.

The event was attended by 2004 Olympic Champion in Greco-Roman wrestling Farid Mansurov, Olympic champion 2000 in trap shooting Zemfira Meftahatdinova, as well as executive director of the steering committee Baku 2020 Konul Nurullayeva.
"As is known, the Steering Committee of Baku 2020 was created on 8 September. Our next task was the preparation of the Bid Book and we have achieved this. The short list of candidates will be defined in Canada in May. By that time our aim is to organize maximal support to Baku bid both inside the country and beyond it", says Konul Nurullayeva.
"Today we are launching the national campaign. Its main task is to get people`s support. This is important for us. 95% of population support hosting Olympics in Baku. It is also important to inform people about the Olympic movement. We plan to collect many signatures in support of our appeal. They may top a million".
