The delegation of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR) arrived in Saint-Petersburg to participate in a conference marking the 85th anniversary of NAR co-organized by the Saint Petersburg Legislative Assembly, Azerbaijan`s consulate to Saint-Petersburg, Heydar Aliyev Foundation`s Russia Office.
The delegation had an official meeting in the Russian National Library on May 13th.
Present at the meeting were head of the NAR Supreme Majlis`s Administration Ali Hasanov, Consul General in Saint Petersburg G. Osmanov, Director General of the Russian National Library Vladimir Zaytsev, deputy director for international relations I. Linden and others.
Hasanov offered NAR Supreme Majlis chairman Vasif Talybov`s greetings to meeting participants and gave a background of the socio-economic development in Nakhchivan.
Zaytsev told of the cooperation between the Russian National Library and Azerbaijan. He noted the library regularly receives books from the consulate.
On behalf of Speaker of NAR Supreme Majlis, Ali Hasanov presented to the Russian National Library the books narrating on the history, culture and literature of Nakhchivan.
Consul Osmanov noted people originating from Nakhchivan take an active part in the social and economic life of Saint Petersburg.
Later the same day, the delegation met with Chairman of the Saint Petersburg Government`s Foreign Relations Committee Prokhorenko. Hasanov thanked Saint Petersburg government for creating conditions to hold the conference.
The delegation presented to Saint Petersburg governor the "Hachdag" work of art, symbol of Nakhchivan.
Prokhorenko deemed it expedient if NAR delegates could attend a meeting of the Saint Petersburg Administration and Azerbaijan Republic intergovernmental Commission to be held later this year in Baku.
