The special plane sent by Azerbaijan for urgent evacuation of its citizens from Egypt has returned to Baku.
The plane has landed at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport this afternoon.
Due to the latest events in Egypt, Azerbaijan`s President Ilham Aliyev instructed the government to urgently evacuate the Azerbaijani citizens from this country.
Under the instructions given by the President to Azerbaijan`s Foreign Ministry and Ministry of Emergency Situations, the plane owned by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, was sent from Baku to Cairo yesterday.
At the Heydar Aliyev International Airport the plane was met by deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Lieutenant-General Faig Tagizade and other officials.
Adviser to the Azerbaijani ambassador to Egypt Rafael Bagirov told the journalists that 48 people arrived in Azerbaijan on board of the plane. He said there were still Azerbaijanis in Egypt, adding the embassy is functioning and would help citizens leave the country.
People, who have been evacuated from Egypt, thanked the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for care and attention, as well as for security measures.
