The book titled "France and Frenchmen" by Asgar Aliyev, famous Azerbaijani journalist, AzerTAc correspondent in France, recently was published. The book is meant for broad readership and the students learning foreign languages. It provides useful information and a collection of shared knowledge about history, geography and culture of France.
The author also analyses the history and different stages of the development of Azeri-French relations. Both countries contribute to the strengthening of bilateral relations, the author underscores, and at the beginning of the 20th century many of our compatriots immigrated to France and played an important role in the development of this country.
Unveiling the dynamic development of ties between two states after the reestablishment of independence of Azerbaijan, the author says that the official visits of the National Leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev to France contributed to the further broadening of cooperation between our countries. Also in the book the author describes the activity of Azerbaijani delegates in PACE. Touching upon the Azerbaijan-UNESCO relations, Asgar Aliyev also describes the accomplishments and a role of Ms. Mehriban Aliyeva, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador, MP in the development of relations between Azerbaijan and France.
One of the most visited destinations in the world, Paris glitters brighter than ever, according to Asgar Aliyev. The author also makes Paris-related quotations from outstanding persons: "If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Paris is a movable feast", popular American writer Ernest Hemingway wrote. Former President of the United States said that Paris is a second homeland for each individual. "Paris changes faster, alas, than a mortal`s heart," wrote Baudelaire.
