Justice Minister of Azerbaijan, Chairman of Judicial-Legal Council Fikrat Mammadov met Dutch counterpart Ernst Hirsch Ballin on August 9th.
Mammadov said the relationship between Azerbaijan and Netherlands was developing successfully.
He said the Memorandum signed between the Justice Ministries of Azerbaijan and Netherlands in 2002 contributed to boosting bilateral cooperation in legal sphere.
Mammadov also noted there were great prospects for expansion of the relationship between the two countries.
He also recalled the bilateral meetings he had on the sidelines of the 29th conference of the European justice ministers took place in Norway last year.
Mammadov also briefed his Dutch counterpart of the legal reforms being carried out in Azerbaijan under President Ilham Aliyev.
He also underlined the importance of cooperation with international organizations.
The Dutch Minister, in turn, said his country attaches significant importance to cooperation with Azerbaijan.
He praised the fact that Azerbaijan is developing dynamically amid the global financial crisis.
He hailed the ongoing reforms in Azerbaijan in legal and judicial systems.
The Minister pointed out his visit would contribute to deepening legal cooperation between Azerbaijan and Netherlands.
The sides agreed to organize joint relevant events.
The same day, Ernst Hirsch Ballin became familiar with the Heydar Aliyev Museum and Justice History Museum.
He also visited the Baku Investigation Isolator to familiarize himself with the reforms implemented in penitentiary sphere.
As part of the visit, Ernst Hirsch Ballin will also become familiar with local judicial and legal bodies.
