On August 7th Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs Ali Hasanov met new regional director of World Bank for South Caucasus Henry Kerali. 
Hasanov congratulated Kerali on his new appointment. He expressed confidence that cooperation between Azerbaijan and World Bank would further continue.
The Deputy Prime Minister briefed the regional director on the history of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He said in the wake of Armenia`s aggressive policy against Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh and seven adjacent regions were occupied and more than one million Azerbaijanis became refugees and IDPs. "Armenia does not honor resolutions of the UN and other international organizations. Azerbaijan considers that the conflict must be settled on the basis of norms and principles of international law."
Hasanov pointed out Azerbaijan had gained good experience during its cooperation with World Bank. Several successful projects had been implemented with the World Bank to improve welfare of refugees and IDPs. The Deputy Prime Minister noted though financial opportunities of Azerbaijan increase, the country`s loan cooperation with reliable and experienced international institutions continues.
Hasanov also said large-scale restoration projects would be implemented in the occupied territories after they were liberated. "That is why we need the help of experienced international organizations."
Henry Kerali praised the help of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs for realization of programs of the World Bank. Kerali described the Azerbaijani government`s works to improve living conditions of refugees and IDPs as an example for the entire world. He also proposed organizing an international conference by the Azerbaijani government on these successful projects.
The Regional Director said he would spare no efforts to contribute to development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and World Bank.
The sides also exchanged views on joint projects.
