A delegation of Russia's Astrakhan province led by Tatiana Yusupova, deputy Chairperson of the Government is visiting Azerbaijan.
The delegation includes officials of Astrakhan mayor's office, mass media representatives and others.
During the four-day visit, the visitors will have meetings at Azerbaijan's state structures.
Today, they have visited the Alley of Honors to honor the memory of national leader Heydar Aliyev and prominent ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva.
They also have visited the Alley of Martyrs to commemorate Azerbaijani heroes who gave their lives for the country's independence and territorial integrity.
The delegation members met Azerbaijan's Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Huseyngulu Bagırov. The minister briefed the delegation on the ongoing environmental reforms in his country.
Yusupova, in turn, spoke of the relationship between Azerbaijan and Russia. She underlined the importance of reciprocal visits.
The necessity of strengthening cooperation between the two countries` mass media was stressed during the meeting.
The delegation also had a meeting at the Narimanov district local government. Head of the Executive Power Abdin Farzaliyev told of the projects carried out in the district by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
For her part, Yusupova said a lot of work had been done to strengthen friendly relations between "our peoples". She said present-day relations between Azerbaijan and Russia started during national leader Heydar Aliyev`s rule, and this policy is being successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev.
The sides discussed how to strengthen bilateral cooperation even more.
