A ceremony of presenting Diplomas and desktop medals "65-year anniversary of Victory in Great Patriotic War" was held at the Embassy of Russia in Baku. The ceremony was attended also by head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation Sergey Naryshkin, who said "these medals have been founded by the Russian organizing committee ""Victory" headed by President Dmitry Medvedev. The award is handed over to public organizations and separate citizens of Azerbaijan for care of veterans, notable contribution to patriotic education of youth, preparation and carrying out of 65-year anniversary of the Great Victory."
The desktop medal "65-year anniversary of Victory in Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945s" and Diploma was presented also to the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
The award also has been handed over the chairman of the council of veterans of war, work, armed forces and law enforcement bodies of Azerbaijan Alovsat Bakhyshov, to a member of Public Association operating in Azerbaijan "Leningrad Blockade" Larisa Karimova, the chief executive of Narimanov district of Baku Abdin Farzaliyev and the ambassador of Russia to Azerbaijan Vladimir Dorokhin.
Noting huge contribution of Azerbaijan to the victory over fascism, the Russian Ambassador said: "The Azerbaijani people have made great contribution to the historical Victory over fascism. On fields of battles of this war heroically were fighting hundred thousand Azerbaijanis, more than half of which were lost in fights. The Azerbaijani people have shown selflessness also in home front. Today the entire world highly appreciates the big role of the Baku oil in defeat of Hitlerite Germany".
