In the framework of his visit to Azerbaijan the delegation led by the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu visited the Tezepir Mosque in Azerbaijan's capital city Baku. The visitor was informed that according to instructions of President Ilham Aliyev in 2005 the project of restoration of the mosque and reconstruction of adjoining territories was prepared. The project provided restoration of the Mosque in its initial form and simultaneously included additional elements which didn't cause damage to its architecture. In restoration, unique samples of the Azerbaijani school of fresco and orientalism have been used.

The delegation got acquainted also with the Islamic University, library, a conference hall of the Caucasus Bard Office here.

Then, OIC Secretary General met with the head of the Caucasus Muslims Clerical Office Allahshukur Pashazade.

Pashazade underlined the role of Azerbaijan's national leader Heydar Aliyev in recognition of Azerbaijan all over the world as tolerant country, noting that now this policy is successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev.

Pashazade expressed gratitude for the fair position of OIC in the Armenia- Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Having expressed satisfaction from stay in Baku, Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu spoke of the importance of development of relations between Azerbaijan and OIC. He noted that Azerbaijan highly appreciates religion. The complex of Tezepir Mosque is a bright example to that. "Azerbaijan is one of the bright stars of the Islamic world. Your country develops, and the world eyewitnesses this", the Secretary General of OIC underlined.
