A delegation led by chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Board Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade visited Samarkand State University named after Alisher Navoi.
Azerbaijani delegation includes deputies of the Milli Majlis Rabiyyat Aslanova, Javanshir Pashazade, Huseynbala Miralamov, Hadi Rajabli, Eldar Ibrahimov, Fazail Ibrahimov and Aydin Abbasov, head of the Board`s Scientific and Religious Council Vasim Mammadaliyev, first deputy chair of the Board`s Scientific and Religious Council Gamarkhanim Javadli, other scientists, religious figures and journalists.
Rector of the Samarkand State University, Professor Ulugbek Tashkenbayev updated Azerbaijani delegation on the history and scientific relations of the university and cooperation with Azerbaijani higher schools.
Allahshukur Pashazade said that he has many friends here as he has been a student in Bukhara.
"Azerbaijani and Uzbek nations have fraternal and friendly relations and cooperation in all spheres. Azerbaijani national leader Heydar Aliyev and Uzbekistan`s President Islam Karimav have special roles in expansion of relationship between the two countries," he added.
Academician Vasim Mammadaliyev noted that a presentation of book entitled "Morality Is Invincible Power" by Uzbek President Islam Karimov in the Azerbaijani language was held in Baku.
"A book "Heydar Aliyev" from the "Lives of Remarkable People" series by Viktor Andriyanov and Huseynbala Miralamov was translated into the Uzbek language and presented here. This is obvious case of the high-level cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan."
Ulugbek Tashkenbayev presented keepsakes on Samarkand to the visitors.
The Azerbaijani delegation visited the Archaeological Museum under the Samarkand State University.
