A letter of protest by the Counselor of the Embassy of Azerbaijan to the United States Nasimi Aghayev was published in New York Times newspaper's website. 
A letter by the Azerbaijani diplomat came as a response to "The National Womb" article by Anastasia Taylor-Lind (Sunday Review, Dec. 11), about the Armenian-Azerbaijan conflict.
The letter says: "Nagorno-Karabakh is neither a "disputed region" nor a "republic," but rather an integral and internationally recognized part of Azerbaijan under illegal occupation by neighboring Armenia. The illegal nature of the occupation and the expulsion of 750,000 citizens of Azerbaijan from the occupied territories, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven adjacent districts, are widely recognized, and have been condemned by, among others, the United Nations Security Council.
As for the children born in the region, the best way to ensure their safe and prosperous future is to resolve the protracted Armenian-Azerbaijan conflict, and not to manipulate the region's demography artificially based on one single ethnicity."
