The embassy of Romania in Azerbaijan hosted a formal reception in honor of the national holiday of the country - the Great Union Day. 
Ambassador Daniel Christian Ciobanu told about the way of development passed by its country. Touching upon the Azerbaijani-Romanian relations, the diplomat underlined that last years relations between the two countries in all areas promptly develop. He noted that the relations developed between presidents of Azerbaijan and Romania brings huge contribution to development of strategic cooperation of two countries. Expressing satisfaction with strengthening of bilateral relations, the ambassador expressed confidence that further they will develop even more.
The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Ali Abbasov on behalf of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev congratulated the friendly Romanian people on this significant day, conveying greetings and sincere wishes of the head of the Azerbaijani state.
Noting that Romania is one of the first countries to recognize independence of Azerbaijan, the Minister told that the basis of relations between the two countries was put by national leader Heydar Aliyev, having made in 1995 official visit to this country. He added that in 2009 the official visit of the President of Romania Traian Basescu to Azerbaijan and official visit of President Ilham Aliyev to Romania have stimulated for development of relations between two countries. In the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict Romania always supported territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, Ali Abbasov stated.
The Minister also noted development of relations between two countries in political, economic, cultural spheres and in the field of information technology.
Ali Abbasov expressed confidence that cooperation between Azerbaijan and Romania will continue to develop both in a bilateral format, and in the frame of the international and regional organizations.
Officials of the state and government of Azerbaijan, ambassadors of foreign countries in Baku, representatives of the public took part at the reception.
