On October 26th, Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ogtay Asadov met with the members of European sports writers` association.
Speaking about the 20th anniversary of Azerbaijan`s independence, Asadov noted the development of sport sphere within 20 years. He pointed out that Azerbaijan defined main directions of sport policy during this period. Azerbaijani sportsmen successfully represent the country in the international contests and world championships. Azerbaijan hosts international sport events.
Azerbaijani Speaker stressed importance of European sports writers` visit towards raising awareness of the people on Azerbaijan`s achievements in sport.
President of World Association of Sports Journalists Gianni Merlo and Chairman of Executive Board of European Sports Writers` Association Yannis Daras praised development processes they witnessed in Azerbaijan.
The guests noted importance of Azerbaijan`s hosting next meetings of Executive Board of European Sports Writers` Association.
Vice-president of National Olympic Committee of Azerbaijan Chingiz Huseynzade, president of Azerbaijan Sports Journalists' Association Eldar Ismayilov and other officials were also present in the meeting.
