On July 2nd chairman of the Iranian Parliament Ali Larijani visited Ganja, second largest city in Azerbaijan, as part of his official trip.
Following the welcoming ceremony at the Ganja International Airport, he laid flowers at the monument of national leader Heydar Aliyev at the center of the city.
Later the same day, Larijani met with governor of Ganja Elmar Valiyev.
Valiyev highly praised deeply-rooted historical Azerbaijan-Iran relations.
The Iranian delegation has also viewed an exhibition dedicated to the 870th anniversary of Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi.
Larijani has also visited Shah Abbas mosque, which was built in the 17th century.
Here, the Iranian delegation was informed about the history of the mosque, which was reconstructed by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
Larijani was presented with a Koran.
The Iranian delegation prayed at the mosque, and then visited the Javad Khan Mausoleum.
Larijani and his accompanying delegation were seen off at the Ganja International Airport by first deputy chairman of Azerbaijan Parliament Ziyafet Asgarov and other officials.{nl}
