Azerbaijan`s Minister of National Security, lieutenant-general Eldar Mahmudov met visiting chairman of the State Security Committee of Belarus Vadim Zaitsev.
Prior to the meeting, Minister Mahmudov and Zaitsev visited the Alley of Honors to lay a wreath at the tomb of Azerbaijan`s national leader Heydar Aliyev.
They also put flowers at the grave of prominent ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva.
Then, they visited the Alley of Martyrs to commemorate Azerbaijani heroes who gave their lives for the country`s independence and territorial integrity.
They laid a wreath at the Eternal Flame monument.
Minister Mahmudov recalled previous ‘fruitful' meetings with Vadim Zaitsev.
During the meeting, the Azeri Minister said this visit would contribute to developing cooperation between the two countries` relevant bodies.
They discussed consequences of transnational organized crime, terrorism, extremism, illegal drugs trade and migration problems.
The parties also discussed development prospects for cooperation between the two countries` special service bodies.
Mahmudov informed Zaitsev about the activity of the Ministry and Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
Zaitsev expressed satisfaction with development of relations between relevant bodies of Azerbaijan and Belarus.
The Belarus chairman expressed confidence his meetings in Baku would be fruitful for strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries.
They also discussed a number of other issues of mutual interest.
