"I want Azerbaijani youth of Russia to remember their origin, help their homeland and promote Azerbaijan culture. I believe that AYOR will unite Azerbaijani youth. I also respect other organizations promoting our culture in Russia," Leyla Aliyeva, Vice President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Head of the Azerbaijan Youth Organization of Russia (AYOR) said in an interview to the Russian magazine "Nasha Molodezh" (Our Youth).
She pointed out AYOR is the most active and largest movement of the Azerbaijan youth abroad.
"AYOR unites Azerbaijani youth and make us feel useful to Azerbaijan even outside the country. The priority of its activity is to assist young Azerbaijanis to integrate into multinational Russia, the country they are living, studying and working in. The organization also works to establish intercultural dialogue, promote rich cultural and historical heritage of Azerbaijan, science and education and raise awareness of Russians about Azerbaijan".
According to her, one of the most important campaigns implemented by AYOR in close cooperation with the Heydar Aliyev Foundation is the Justice for Khojaly campaign. As part of this campaign, over 70 events were organized last year to bring the truth about the tragedy of the ruined Azerbaijani village to the world community.
"We, young generation of Azerbaijan, want to look at this world with wide-open eyes, always remember our homeland, love and protect our roots and traditions, we want to hear and be heard".
"AYOR welcomes everyone irrespective of ethnicity, age, religion and other differences. We have a lot of things to do in the future, and our common success depends on realization of our projects," she added.
