First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO goodwill ambassador, MP Mehriban Aliyeva inspected construction progress and reconstruction work in some education and tourism facilities in the Khazar district here yesterday.
Aliyeva first attended the opening of a newly-reconstructed boarding school in the settlement of Shagan. The school was reconstructed at the initiative of Mehriban Aliyeva and within the framework of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation`s "Development of Orphanages and Boarding Schools" program.
The First Lady saw a photo stand reflecting national leader Heydar Aliyev`s, President Ilham Aliyev`s and his spouse`s care for children as well as previous and present look of the building.

Later the same day, Mehriban Aliyeva inaugurated a special boarding school for children who suffered the cerebral palsy and poliomyelitis located in the settlement of Shuvalan.
The school was reconstructed thanks to the Heydar Aliyev Foundation`s "Development of Orphanages and Boarding Schools" program.
Reconstruction of the school, which started in March last year is the Heydar Aliyev Foundation`s project aiming to develop education in the country.
After touring facilities here, Mehriban Aliyeva presented to the school a Heydar Aliyev Foundation`s gift - new bus keys.

First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva arrived in the settlement of Gala where she was told that the territory around a lake here will be improved. The greening work here will allow organizing various events and building a museum here.
Aliyeva was informed that oil-polluted area had been cleared here.
The President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation inspected restoration of the fortress wall. The rebuilding work was started in summer last year. The Gala castle dating back to 12-14 centuries has been restored.
Excavations have been carried out here at the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation by the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.
Then, Mehriban Aliyeva inspected construction of the Gala copperware and antiques museum and restaurant.
