Former German Foreign Minister Hans-Dietrich Genscher has said Azerbaijan is an important country for Germany.
Genscher spoke to journalists as he visited the Alley of Martyrs in Baku to pay respect to Azerbaijan`s valiant sons who fell for the country`s independence and territorial integrity.
"The stability and sustainable development increase Germany`s interest towards Azerbaijan."
The former German FM touched upon the goals of his visit.
"I will have a number of meetings on prospects for the bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Germany," he said.
"The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict will be in focus," added Genscher.
