On December 19, a meeting with the Regional President of BP in Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey Gordon Birell was held at the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan. 
   Speaking about the successes of socio-economic development strategy of the President of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the minister of labour and social protection of population Salim Muslumov emphasized that, these successes continued also in 2014, which is coming to an end: "The economic growth of the country was 2.2 percent during the past 11 months of this year and 6.5 percent increase in non-oil sector has shown itself, as successful continuation of the positive trend of recent years. At the same time, incomes of the population increased by 4.7 percent, the growth of per capita income exceeded 1.9 percent the consumption price rise". S.Muslumov gave information about the reforms carried out in labour and social security system, in accordance with sustainable socio-economic development of the country. The minister stressed the importance of electronic information system on notification of labour contract put into operation by the MLSPP from July 1of the current year in improving state control over the labour market, transparency of labour relations in electronic format. 
   S.Muslumov brought to the attentionthat, particular attention is given to establishment of joint activities with employers in resolving labor and employment issues, as well as, cooperation with BP, which has an important role in the economy of Azerbaijan. "Our partnership with the company, which includes a large workforce covers provision of labour rights of employees, occupational safety and health, social protection of the unemployed and job seeker citizens, provision of their employment, labour migration, establishing occupational and qualification standards and other issues". In particular, accordance with the requirements of national legislation, exchange of operative information on supply and demand for workforce, as well as, foreign workforce, allocation of workplaces on quota for socially vulnerable groups, including persons with disabilities, the organization of professional training of unemployed and jobseekers, increasing their qualifications are the pressing issues for our cooperation, currently. Development of relevant Action Plan on cooperation to be covered these areas, is kept in the spotlight ". 
   Noting the measures of BP to increase the specialist potential of the oil and gas sector of Azerbaijan G. Birell spoke about the work done in the field of increasing the quality of potential of the company's employees, harmonization of international requirements. He stated that, training and career opportunities have been created in BP, especially for young people and the company is interested in working with MLSP in the mentioned fields. 
   The cooperation issues in organization of exchange of operative information on supply and demand for workforce, the involvement of local experts in work on the projects of company and increasing their professionalism, determining the workplaces on quota, creating healthy and safe working conditions for workers and other fields were discussed at the meeting.
