The ceremony awarding the winners of  the IV Republican competitions on the kinds of table sports among persons with disabilities and children with limited health by the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan (MLSPP) related to the december 3rd - International Day of Persons with Disabilities was held today. Representatives of governmental and non-governmental organizations, non-governmental organizations of people with disabilities was attended the event.
   Opening the event the minister of labour and social protection of population of the Republic of Azerbaijan Salim Muslumov noted that, as over the world, in Azerbaijan also celebrates the International Disability Day and improving care for people with disabilities is one of the characteristic features of the social status of the country. The Minister spoke about the great care and attention of national leader Heydar Aliyev to the people in this category, emphasized that, the social protection of the persons with disabilities occupies an important place in the  social policy course of the President of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev: “In last one year totally more than 10 Decrees and Orders related to strengthening of social protection of the persons with disabilities, other socially vulnerable categories of the population were signed by Mr. President. According to these documents the average monthly amount of the presidential scholarships assigned to war veterans and persons equated to them was increased nearly 50 percent.
   According to the information of the World Health Organization the minister stated that, 15 percent of the world's population is persons with disabilities, this index is 5.6 percent  in Azerbaijan, i.e. 530 000 people, the main reason of this being lower of the level of disability compared to other countries, because population of the country consist of the youth: “The financial support of the mentioned persons constantly is strengthened. Today 28,2 percent of the labor pensioners, 58,3 percent of the social assistance beneficiaries, 68,3 percent of the Presidential Scholarship recipients are persons with disabilities. Compared with 2004, the average monthly amount of the social benefits for disability 8.1 times, monthly amount of the social benefits paid to disabled children 7,4 times, the average monthly amount of the labor pensions was increased more than 9 times”.
   S.Muslumov stated acceleration of the provision of car and apartment of the persons with disabilities: “According to Order of the President of Azerbaijan dated December 23, 2013 and April 30, 2014, 1453 people with disabilities standing in the queue until 2014 were provided with car. Also apartments were given to 172 war invalids and families of martyrs on some regions. At present time new tenement and individual houses for this people are being built in different regions of the country. According to the Order of the Mr. President dated July 20, 2014, standing in the queue for housing until the beginning of the this  year 5731 disabled and families of martyrs will be provided with apartment or individual house during the years 2014-2018”.
   Spoke about implemented works in the field of supporting creative and athletic abilities of the persons with disabilities S.Muslumov stated that, the organization of IV Republican competitions organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports is continuation of these works.
   The speakers of the event emphasized the importance of the organization of such measures on integration into society of  the persons with disabilities on International Day of Persons with Disabilities. 
   Then ranked 1, 2, and 3rd place in the competitions were awarded with diplomas. In general, each of those involved in the final round of the competition were awarded cash prizes and diplomas.
