On April 4th visiting Foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov met with Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Artur Rasizade. 
During the conversation, the Azerbaijani Premier hailed economic and political cooperation between the two countries, saying bilateral deeply-rooted historical ties were formed on the basis of good-neighborhood principles. Rasizade underscored importance of economic, political, social and humanitarian cooperation, and stressed activity of the Diaspora organizations of the two countries.
The Azerbaijani official recalled accomplishments achieved in the Azerbaijan-Russia diplomatic relations during the past 20 years. On Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict Rasizade said the problem had not been solved as a result of Armenia`s unconstructive position. He also stressed the bloody acts committed by Armenians against Azerbaijanis in 1918 continued in Khojaly in 1992.
In turn, the Foreign Minister of Russia underlined that the meetings he held during the visit discussed expansion of bilateral relations. Lavrov said Azerbaijan and Russia cooperate in all spheres, noting they are interested in deepening ties even more. He also stressed importance of the large-scale projects initiated by Azerbaijan in the South Caucasus.
