Head of EU Delegation hails Azerbaijan`s efforts to improve social conditions of refugees and IDPs

"What the government of Azerbaijan has been doing to improve social conditions of refugees and internally displaced persons and to address their housing problems is commendable," said newly appointed head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Azerbaijan, Ambassador Kestutis Jankauskas as he met with Azerbaijani Deputy PM, chair of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs Ali Hasanov.

Jankauskas said he will spare no efforts to contribute to further developing the EU-Azerbaijan relations, which he said are based on mutual benefit, common values and mutual interests in all spheres.

Head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan Jankauskas said that they plan to visit the IDP settlements and to implement the appropriate development projects in the years ahead.

Chair of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs Ali Hasanov expressed his confidence that the EU-Azerbaijan cooperation will continue strengthening in a variety of fields during Kestutis Jankauskas' diplomatic tenure.

Ali Hasanov highlighted the history, and the causes and consequences of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

He pointed to international organizations' conflict-related resolutions and decisions, saying Armenia ignores all these documents.

The Deputy PM hailed the mechanism that the Azerbaijani government set up in order to manage the refugee and IDP problem.
