President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan have held a joint press conference following a ceremony to sign Azerbaijan-Turkey documents.
Turkish Primer Recep Tayyip Erdogan congratulated the Head of State on his re-election with the majority of votes to a third term as President of Azerbaijan.
Mr Erdogan said Turkey and Azerbaijan have done serious work to ensure peace, security and prosperity in the Caucasus. “Trade between Turkey and Azerbaijan has reached $4.2 bln,” he stressed. The Premier added that the two countries intend to increase it up to $15 bln.
The Turkish Premier stressed the importance of joint oil, gas and railway projects, and highlighted historical TANAP project to be launched in 2014.
Touching upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Mr Erdogan said Azerbaijan attaches special importance to the solution of the dispute.
He hailed the two countries` political bonds as excellent.
The Turkish prime Minister touched upon the bilateral ties in the field of economy, adding they also discussed the expansion of cultural relations.
He praised the visit of the Azerbaijani President to Turkey as an important contribution to further expanding the bilateral ties.
President Ilham Aliyev thanked the Turkish Prime Minister for congratulations and high hospitality.
The Head of State expressed confidence that the friendly, fraternal ties as well as cooperation between Turkey and Azerbaijan will continue to expand in the years ahead.
President Ilham Aliyev hailed Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s contributions to Turkey’s recently gained achievements, saying the fraternal country is now among the 20 most powerful countries of the world.
On the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, the President said unfortunately there have been no mechanisms of execution of the UN Security Council resolutions so far. He said Azerbaijan has always relied on Turkey`s support on this issue.
The President touched upon the presentation on Turkey`s military industry, saying he was amazed by it. The Head of State said the two countries will continue efforts towards implementing internationally important projects.
President Ilham Aliyev emphasized the significance of mutual investment making, saying Azerbaijan is going to make its largest investment abroad in Turkey`s economy.
