On September 9th President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received representatives of the 70th meeting of the CIS Border Troops Commanders Council.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed confidence that the meeting would discuss important issues of mutual activities of the CIS border services. The President said that the event participants were also informed about development of border service in Azerbaijan in recent years.
The Head of State noted Azerbaijan was actively contributing to the activities the CIS in different formats.
“We attach great importance to our participation in this organization.”
The Azerbaijani leader said mutual activities of the countries` border services were of profound importance in terms of development of cooperation within the CIS.
President Ilham Aliyev noted “we have always attached great importance to development of border service in Azerbaijan”.
The President said: “What we do serves the strengthening of security in the region.”
The Head of State added “we will continue to strengthen Azerbaijan`s border service, as well as to boost cooperation both in the bilateral and multilateral formats”.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed confidence that discussions to be held as part of the meeting would be fruitful, and would give its impetus to future mutual activities of border services of the CIS countries.
Addressing the meeting, first deputy director of the Russian Federal Security Service and director of the Border Guard Service Vladimir Kulishov thanked the Azerbaijani President for excellent organization of the 70th meeting of the CIS Border Troops Commanders Council.
Mr Kulishov briefed President Ilham Aliyev on the organization`s future plans in terms of expansion of relations among the border services of the CIS countries.
On behalf of members of the CIS Border Troops Commanders Council, he presented a keepsake to the Head of State.
Mr Kulishov wished President Ilham Aliyev successes in the upcoming presidential election.
