France win FIFA U-17 Women`s World Cup

Azerbaijani President watches final game
On October 13th France won the FIFA U-17 Women`s World Cup on penalties against Korea DPR following a 1-1 draw at the Tofig Bahramov Stadium in Baku.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev watched the final encounter.
The French became the first European side to be crowned champions at the competition after a 7-6 shoot-out victory, with Ri Un Yong of Korea DPR the unfortunate person to miss the crucial spot-kick.
Lea Declercq had put France ahead in the first half, before a late equaliser from Ri Un Sim forced penalties in the showpiece, and after a long shoot-out which also saw Kim Un Hwa and Marion Romanelli fail from 12 yards, Ri Un Yong`s miss allowed the French to celebrate.
The game was followed by a solemn award giving ceremony.
The ceremony featured the awarding of referees, as well as the tournament`s best striker, best goalkeeper and best player.
Japan received Fair Play award.
Ghana footballers were presented with bronze medals of the world cup, while Korea DPR received silver medals.
France were awarded with gold medals and the cup of the tournament.
The awards were presented by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, UEFA president Michel Platini, and member of FIFA`s Executive Committee Lydia Nsekera.
The awarding ceremony was followed by performance of pop star Shakira who lit the hearts of 27,000 people who gathered at the Tofig Bahramov Stadium.
