Azerbaijan`s President attends meeting of heads of state and government on Afghanistan in Chicago

World leaders convened in Chicago on Monday after completing some of the most intensive negotiations of the year on issues ranging from eradicating hunger to resolution of the eurozone crisis and ending the Afghanistan war.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev participated in the meeting. The Azerbaijani President addressed the event.
In the NATO communiqué, the heads of state and government claimed the withdrawal of international forces from Afghanistan was on track and "irreversible", and would provide a new non-combat NATO mission in Afghanistan after 2014 "to train, advise and assist" the Afghan army.
Opening the meeting, NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said here today discussed the future of the Afghan government and people.
Speaking on the activities of the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan, NATO Secretary General pointed out that these forces have played an active role in the fight against terrorism. There is an ongoing process of devolution of NATO powers in Afghanistan to the country's police and military authorities.
President Obama, after meeting Afghanistan president Hamid Karzai in Chicago on Sunday, insisted that within the next two years the war in Afghanistan as we know it would be over.
President Barack Obama praised the operation in Afghanistan carried out by International Security Assistance Force, and noted that 75 percent of Afghanistan is controlled by the Afghans.
Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev addressed the meeting. The Head of Azerbaijani State said since the early years Azerbaijan has made every effort to ensure peace and security in Afghanistan. President Ilham Aliyev stressed Azerbaijan continues its mission and Azerbaijani servicemen are actively involved in peacekeeping operations in Afghanistan. In addition, Azerbaijan has also contributed to Afghanistan by carrying out various trainings for the Afghan militaries. President Ilham Aliyev said Azerbaijan will continue its assistance to Afghanistan until 2014, and if necessary will spare no effort in the future.
