On September 7th President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev inspected the ongoing reconstruction work in the area of Gala archeological-ethnographic museum complex in Khazar district in Baku, and opened the Museum of Antiquarian Things.
The Head of State and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva were told the creation of the State History and Ethnography Reserve in Gala with support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in 2008 serves the protection of historical past of Azerbaijan and turning the country into one of tourism centers.
They were informed that a project entitled "Clean Gala" had been launched in Gala village at the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
President Ilham Aliyev and Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva became familiar with the Gala Information Center and progress of reconstruction in the Gala Park. They viewed a stand reflecting the previous and current state of the park.
The President and First Lady planted a tree in the Gala park.
Then, President Ilham Aliyev and Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva familiarized themselves with the Sand bath dating back to the 12th and 14th centuries.
They also became familiar with the Ethno-Ecological Center created at the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation for children and youngsters.
President Ilham Aliyev and Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva became familiar with the Gala monument complex dating back to the 10th and 14th centuries. They were told the Absheron archeological expedition of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences conducted here excavation work at the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in 2010-2011.
Then President Ilham Aliyev opened the Museum of Antiquarian Things.
The Head of State cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the Museum which has 800 exhibits. President Ilham Aliyev was told the Museum was created in the area of the reserve at the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva signed the Museum`s memory book.
Then, President Ilham Aliyev and Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva became familiar with the Karvansara- restaurant. The facility was built at the initiative of President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva. Favorable conditions have been created here for tourists.
President Ilham Aliyev praised the work done, and gave relevant recommendations and instructions.
