President Ilham Aliyev accepted credentials of newly-appointed ambassador of Sudan Mohammed Hussein Hassan Zarug.
The Ambassador passed along the guard of honor.
President Ilham Aliyev and the Sudanese ambassador had a conversation.
Mr. Hassan Zarug said he was honored to be an ambassador of Sudan to Azerbaijan headed by such a prominent personality as President Ilham Aliyev.
The ambassador conveyed Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir`s greetings and best regards to the Head of State and Azerbaijan`s people.
The diplomat said the two countries had shared values.
The ambassador said Sudan had backed Azerbaijan`s rights concerning the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, as well as resolutions introduced by Azerbaijan to the Organization of the Islamic Conference and the United Nations.
Mr. Hassan Zarug stressed the importance of boosting economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Sudan.
He said Azerbaijan have big experience in the oil field.
The ambassador underlined Sudan would like Azerbaijan to share its experience in order to develop the country`s oil industry and invest in Sudan`s energy sector.
The ambassador noted there are many Azerbaijan-educated Sudanese top oil industry managers.
The diplomat stressed the necessity to sign new document for education of Sudanese students in Azerbaijan.
The Head of State praised the fact that Sudan had supported Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity within international organizations.
President Ilham Aliyev asked the ambassador to pass on his greetings to Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir.
