President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has met with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in the city of Eskisehir, Turkey.

They hailed the development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine in political, economic and other fields, underlining that the transport cooperation yielded good results.

The importance of TANAP, in particular its contribution to international cooperation was pointed out during the conversation.

The sides noted that trade between the two countries increased 2.5 times last year, adding that export from Azerbaijan to Ukraine increased eight-fold. They stressed a two-time increase in the volume of transit cargo arriving from Ukraine and passing through Azerbaijan.

The deepening of energy cooperation was emphasized, expansion of relations with SOCAR and the growing number of SOCAR`s petrol stations in Ukraine was noted at the meeting.

The sides exchanged views on bilateral relations and the issues of mutual interest.
