President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received the UK Prime Minister's Trade Envoy to Azerbaijan Baroness Emma Nicholson.

The head of state thanked Baroness Emma Nicholson for paying a visit to Azerbaijan to attend the official opening ceremony of the Southern Gas Corridor, and the 25th International Caspian Oil & Gas Exhibition and Conference.

President Ilham Aliyev recalled with pleasure his recent visit to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

The successful development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the UK in a number of areas, including in political, economic, and energy ones was hailed, long-term fruitful cooperation between SOCAR and BP was underlined at the meeting.

Baroness Emma Nicholson noted the importance of the official opening ceremony of the Southern Gas Corridor, and the 25th International Caspian Oil & Gas Exhibition and Conference to be held in Baku, pointing to the symbolic nature of the fact that these events coincide with the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.

Baroness Emma Nicholson hailed these events as landmark and congratulated President Ilham Aliyev on this occasion.
