Azerbaijan faced Turkey in the women's volleyball semifinal at the first European Games.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, his wife, chairperson of the Baku 2015 First European Games Organizing Committee Mehriban Aliyeva and family members watched the match.

Turkey emerged as 25-21 winners in the first set. In the second period, Azerbaijan blasted their way to a 25-23 victory, with Turkey claiming a 25-19 win in the third. Azerbaijan hit back to take the enthralling fourth set 25-23. Turkey closed out the fifth set 15-11 to advance to the final.

Azerbaijan will lock horns with Serbia in the bronze medal match.
