Archbishop of Baku and Azerbaijan Eparchy Alexander Ischein has praised tolerance in the country, saying “representatives of different religions and nations are living together in peace, mutual respect and solidarity here”.
In his interview with AzerTAc`s correspondent, Ischein said apart from Islam, Christianity and Judaism had deep roots in Azerbaijan.
“Everyone can freely celebrate their religious holidays here.”
The Archbishop pointed out there was a large number of interfaith marriages in the country.
“At the same time people of different religions and nations are working together at higher educational institutions.”
“All this testifies to the development of intercultural and interfaith dialogue in Azerbaijan,” Archbishop Ischein added.
