A grand mosque symbolizing the brotherhood between Azerbaijan and Turkey will be constructed in Baku, according to Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Associations Elshad Isgandarov.

"Initiated directly by President Ilham Aliyev, this project is a symbol of the Turkish-Azerbaijani brotherhood," he told journalists.

"The Turkish side has welcomed this initiative with big pleasure. An area of land has been assigned for the mosque at the instruction of the president."

"Technical projecting work of the mosque is about to finish. The work will begin shortly," Isgandarov added.
