According to Health Minister Ogtay Shiraliyev, Azerbaijan has been elected a member of World Health Organization`s Executive Committee. "Azerbaijan attended Committee`s meetings in 2005-2008, sent its representative to the organization`s Standing Committee in 2009-2011," Shiraliyev noted. He praised Azerbaijan`s membership in the organization`s Executive Committee.
"Baku`s hosting the 61st session of the World Health Organization`s Regional Committee for Europe testifies Azerbaijan`s increasing role in the region," the Azerbaijani Minister told journalists. He also said that representatives from various countries visited a number of medical facilities as part of their visit to Azerbaijan and familiarized themselves with healthcare of the country.
