Azerbaijan National Oncology Center signs cooperation agreement with Varian Medical Systems, receives status of international training and consulting center

Azerbaijan National Oncology Center has signed a cooperation agreement with U.S.-based Varian Medical Systems, receiving the status of an international training and consulting center.
The deal was inked by director of Azerbaijan National Oncology Center, academician Jamil Aliyev and Regional Sales Director with Varian Medical Systems Fritz Derrer.
Speaking to the signing ceremony, Mr. Aliyev highlighted Azerbaijan`s achievements in the field of oncology. He hailed measures taken under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev to strengthen material and technical infrastructure of medical centers providing services to people with oncologic diseases. Mr. Aliyev described the agreement as “the result of President Ilham Aliyev`s successful social policy”. “This agreement demonstrates that high standards of assistance provided by Azerbaijan National Oncology Center to people with oncologic diseases are accepted by other leading clinics in the world.” “The deal will contribute to expanding the cooperation with our partners, and also help us ensure quick delivery of cutting-edge technologies to Azerbaijan, and pave the way for carrying out a wide exchange of views with foreign specialists. This, at the end of the day, will help us improve the quality of medical services provided to people with oncologic diseases,” said Mr. Aliyev.
Mr. Derrer provided information about Varian Medical Systems, the world's leading manufacturer of medical devices and software for treating cancer and other medical conditions with radiotherapy, radiosurgery, proton therapy, and brachytherapy. He said the company supplies informatics software for managing comprehensive cancer clinics, radiotherapy centers, and medical oncology practices.
Varian is a premier supplier of tubes and digital detectors for X-ray imaging in medical, scientific, and industrial applications and also supplies X-ray imaging products for cargo screening and industrial inspection.
Varian already has its centers in five European countries, and the new center will operate at Azerbaijan National Oncology Center in Baku.
