Azerbaijani Minister of Health Ogtay Shiraliyev attended the 63rd session of World Health Assembly held in Geneva, Switzerland.
The Health Assembly discussed a number of public health issues, including implementation of the International Health Regulations (2005), monitoring of the achievement of the health-related Millennium Development Goals, strategies to reduce the harmful use of alcohol, and counterfeit medical products.
The Health Assembly also discussed a programme budget, administration and management matters of World Health Organization (WHO).
During the session, Azerbaijani minister had various private meetings with his counterparts from Belarus and Andorra, representatives of Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation, as well as WHO officials.
At the meeting with Belarus counterpart, discussions focused on execution of the agreement on health and medical science cooperation.
Andorra and Azerbaijan Health Ministers discussed prospects for establishment of ties in the healthcare sector.
Shiraliyev also discussed WHO`s relevant programs, and prospects of cooperation.
Representatives of Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation handed to the Azerbaijani Minister a report of the Alliance`s programs and projects.
Shiraliyev also exchanged views with WHO officials on the Azerbaijan visit itenerary of the working group for a session of WHO European Region to be held in September, 2011.
