On October 13th Azerbaijan and Japan signed another grant contract under the "Grassroots and human security Grant Assistance" program. 
The contract, signed by Japanese ambassador in Baku, Shusuke Watanabe, and chairwoman of Young Azerbaijani Enlighteners, Ruhiyya Aslanova, envisages the improvement of professional education environment on metalwork and carpenter courses in Baku Professional Lyceum №2 with the Japanese funding.
Speaking to the signing ceremony, Azeri education minister, Misir Mardanov, praised "Grassroots and human security Grant Assistance" program.
"The government of Japan has been supporting education projects in Azerbaijan for more than ten years. The funding is continuing even despite fatal quakes and tsunami which hit Japan."
"The Japanese government has allocated a total of $11 million in grants to Azerbaijan so far. The funds have been spent on construction and repair of 50 secondary schools," Mardanov added.
Ambassador Watanabe said Japan considered Azerbaijan a friendly country.
"We have always supported projects of the Ministry of Education, and are ready to continue this."
The ambassador praised Azerbaijan`s development, saying the country is making considerable achievements at a very rapid pace.
"This is why Azerbaijan needs highly-skilled specialists."
Young Azerbaijani Enlighteners chairwoman Aslanova thanked the Japanese government and Azerbaijan`s Ministry of Education for supporting the project.
