A round table on “Current situation in usage of alternative and renewable energy sources: achievements, targets” has been held in the State Agency for Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources within Baku International Humanitarian Forum.
Chairman of State Agency Akim Badalov said that 1 mln kVt/hour of energy has been produced in Gobustan hybrid power station, which started production in May and handed over to Azerenergy OJSC.
He also spoke about implementation of a lot of projects in Baku and noted that the successes have also been achieved as a result of business relations with the international organizations: “Close cooperation relations have been established with the European Union, Germany, Sweden, France, Ukraine, and Turkey”.
He noted that feasibility study is underway for construction of alternative power stations with 30 mVt for each in 10 regions of Azerbaijan. According to him, stations will be constructed on the basis of technical conditions of each region: “Gobustan will be able to meet its demand for energy from alternative energy from 2015”.
Deputy Chairman Jamil Malikov said that the Agency studies advises of different advisors and conducts its own energy policy: “We aim to provide support to companies and firms applying for engaging in usage of renewable energy sources. Therefore, we are preparing cadastres”.
Main target of the Agency is to increase the renewable energy to 20% in 2020 in accordance with the requirements of European Union: “Tariff policy will be based on the subsidies of the government. Investments will be stimulated and several concessions will be provided to producer companies”.
