The 19th forum of Principal Contact Persons of the Intra-European Organization of Tax Administration (IOTA) has today started in Azerbaijan`s capital.
The forum is attended by representatives of 33 member countries, as well as the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and president of IOTA Samuel Tanner.
Opening the event, Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Taxes Sahib Alakbarov said that IOTA plays a role of useful platform for member-states to get detailed information on successful experiences and experience exchange in tax sphere.
Alakbarov noted that Azerbaijani Minister of Taxes is a full-right member of IOTA since 2002 stressing the attention to development of cooperation with Tax Administrations of member countries.
“GDP tripled during past 10 years and is expected to double during next 10 years and learning and application of international experience is useful for such economic growth.”
Samuel Tanner said the forum was one of the practical steps taken for exchange of experience of member states.
The forum features plenary sessions.
The agenda of the three-day forum includes discussion of several issues on activity of the organization, as well as implementation of decisions for 2012-2017, reducing administrative burden, extension of services rendered for them, reduction of tax administration expenditures and other such issues.
