On January 16th Azerbaijan`s Prime Minister Artur Rasizadeh met a Slovenian delegation led by PM Janez Jansa.
The meeting focused on bilateral cooperation, and the two premiers noted the two countries have “wide” opportunities for further expanding it.
The Azerbaijani Premier said the Slovenian delegation`s visit would make a positive contribution to relations in various fields, in particular in economic one. Rasizade proposed to set up an intergovernmental economic commission, saying it will help develop economic ties.
He said the joint business forum held in Baku would create new opportunities for entrepreneurs of the two nations.
The Premier briefed his counterpart on development of Azerbaijan`s economy, especially non-oil sector and large-scale infrastructure projects.
On the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Rasizade said Armenia occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan`s territories expelling 1 million people from their homelands. The Prime Minister said his country supported the international-law based settlement of the problem.
The Slovenian Premier said his country is keen on new economic relations. Jansa praised the proposal of his Azerbaijani counterpart concerning the creation of the intergovernmental commission.
He also invited the Azerbaijani businessmen to invest in Slovenia`s economy.
The meeting also saw the signing of the agreements “On international automobile ties between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of Republic of Slovenia” and “On the lifting of the short-stay visa obligation" for the citizens having diplomatic passports between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of Republic of Slovenia”.
