Baku forum focuses on planned oil and gas complex

Azerbaijani state oil company Socar on Tuesday opened a three-day forum at the Hilton hotel in Baku to feature discussions on building a major oil and gas refining and petrochemicals complex in Azerbaijan. 
The aim of the Forum is to give information about SOCAR's project to a wide range of world renowned companies, including potential licensors, engineering design, supply, construction and other contracting companies. Also attending are consultants in technological processes, world plant manufacturers for oil refining and production and petrochemical industry, financial institutions, legal experts, consultants on environmental issues, trading, logistics, service and other companies.
The Forum was opened by SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev.
The format of the Forum includes sessions with the heads of the world's leading companies presenting unique brand technologies, experience and knowledge. Bilateral meetings are planned to be held on the final day.
Iteca Caspian and INBC Consulting are the forum organisers. Along with the opportunity to become familiarised with the project, this Forum will give a unique opportunity for leading global companies to present their experience, technologies, other resources and innovative solutions in the field of oil, gas processing and petrochemical industry at executive and other senior delegates level.
First Deputy prime minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Yagub Eyyubov read a congratulatory letter to the participants of the Forum on behalf of the President Ilham Aliyev.
As part of the project it is planned to build oil and gas processing plants with an annual production capacity of 10 million tons of oil and 10 billion cubic meters of gas.
The project also includes construction of a petrochemical plant with a capacity of about 2 million tons per year of base polymers.

In general, the complex will include 30 units with more than 20 technology licenses. The complex is expected to start operating in 2020.
