Energy ministers of Turkey and Azerbaijan hold press conference

Turkey`s Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz and Azerbaijan Minister of Industry and Energy Natig Aliyev gave a press conference after the energy agreement was signed between Turkey and Azerbaijan in Ciragan Palace of Istanbul.
Mr. Yildiz said: "Eight meetings were held to discuss natural gas issues between the two countries. "Shahdeniz -2" project, which is to be put into commission in 2016-2017, was in the focus of discussions. Besides, agreement on volumes and price of natural gas as well as tariffs for transit has been achieved. Azerbaijani side will institute the company under "Petkim" firm, which will receive the natural gas. Azerbaijani gas is extremely important to provide needs of Turkey and Europe as well as future project `Nabucco`".
Azeri Minister named the agreement signed with Turkey as a momentous event. He said:
"Projects "Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli" and "Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan" serve well-being not only Turkey and Georgia but also all Caspian and Black Sea regions. The second grandiose project is development of Azerbaijani field "Shahdeniz" and Turkey takes an active part in implementation of this project. The agreement signed today will strengthen economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkey. Azerbaijan makes large investments in Turkish economy. State Oil Company of Azerbaijan wants to develop its own company "Petkim" and therefore transfer a part of natural gas to this company was inscribed in the paragraph of the agreement".
