On June 2nd the 6th meeting of an Azerbaijan-Belarus intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation was held in Baku.
Vice-Premiers Yagub Eyyubov of Azerbaijan and Andrey Kobyakov of Belarus chaired the meeting.
The meeting featured discussions on what had been done since the 5th meeting of the Commission in Minsk, and the sides also explored prospects for boosting the bilateral economic and trade relations.
Eyyubov highlighted Azerbaijan's economic achievements.
The vice-premier praised the Azerbaijan-Belarus relations, saying "they are rapidly developing, in particular in the cultural, trade, economic and humanitarian fields".
"Trade between our countries saw a 1.5-fold increase last year in comparison with 2008."
Eyyubov praised the role of the two countries` leaders in developing the bilateral relations.
"After Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev`s visit to Belarus last year we've embarked on implementation of a number of economic projects worth a total of $800 million."{nl}

Kobyakov also praised economic and trade relations between Azerbaijan and Belarus.
"Both countries` businessmen play a key role in strengthening and expanding our trade and economic cooperation. We have good potential to boost our relations in these fields."
The meeting featured the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Ganja and Minsk automobile plants - with the participation of German Haller firm - on production of municipal waste vehicles.
