The Southern Gas Corridor will be discussed as part of Atlantic Council Energy and Economic Summit, in Istanbul, Turkey.

The Summit brings together an influential constituency to foster and strengthen transatlantic engagement on energy, economic, and political challenges. This effort is part of the overall mission of the Atlantic Council, a Washington-based think tank that also has a presence in Istanbul, to promote engagement based on the Atlantic community's crucial role in addressing global challenges.

The Southern Gas Corridor is one of the priority energy projects for the EU. The Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) is a term used to describe planned infrastructure projects aimed at improving the security and diversity of the EU's energy supply by bringing natural gas from the Caspian region to Europe.

At the initial stage, the gas to be produced as part of the Stage 2 of development of Azerbaijan's Shah Deniz field is considered as the main source for the Southern Gas Corridor projects.
