The British Council Azerbaijan, in partnership with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan, is delighted to present the Puppet Theatre Performance called “In Suspension”  on 10 November at 14.00 and 18.00 at the Theatre of Young Spectators .

Stephen Mottram will lead Artists Talk (the project initiated and organized by Yarat Contemporary Art Space) at Yay Gallery on 8^th of November at 18:30 for all interested art people.

In Suspension is based on acute observation of the details of human movement. Elegant in its simplicity, it plays with our perceptions of everyday things like gravity and balance. Bit by bit, the viewer is coaxed into a magical, funny and poetic alternative world where the rules seem to have changed.

The performance is directed by Stephen Mottram. At present, in addition to performing his own work, (which has now been seen in more than 40 countries) Stephen teaches courses in movement and manipulation in a number of European colleges and theatre schools. He is a regular teacher at MAAF Academy in Pinerolo, Italy.

The show had no words in it, just “marionettes doing interesting things and a dynamic music which held the attention of the audience.” It soon became popular with overseas promoters and Stephen started touring internationally.

This performance is designed for an adult audience, but anyone old enough to watch carefully and quietly will find it enjoyable. As there is no spoken language in the performance so the show is universally accessible.
