Azerbaijani mugham singers have given a concert at the Azerbaijani Cultural Center in Paris.
Supported by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Azerbaijan`s Embassy to France and International Mugham Center, the concert was watched by French public figures, representatives of the diplomatic corps and Azerbaijan diaspora.
Opening the evening, ambassador Elchin Amirbayov said the concert was organized as part of “The World of Mugham” 3rd International Music Festival to be held in Baku.
He noted that in 2003 mugham was recognized by UNESCO as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The ambassador said International Center of Mugham was established under a decree of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in 2005.
The concert featured performance by young singers Nigar Shabanova and Elnur Zeynalov who were accompanied by Rovshan Gurbanov on tar, Jeyhun Muradov on kamancha, Kamran Karimov on naghara, Chinara Mutallibova on canon and Joshgun Sadigov on balaban.
The Azeri musicians received a storm of applause from the audience.
Françoise Daganaud, a French mugham lover, told AzerTAc`s correspondent: “I have known mugham for a long time. I attended almost all mugham concerts annually organized by the French Ambassador to Azerbaijan.”
“And I discovered rich art of Azerbaijan, and loved it. Every year, I bring tens of Azerbaijani children to familiarize them with France,” she said.
Daganaud hailed the concert as magnificent.
