The London Royal Philharmonic Orchestra has given another concert as part of the Gabala 4th International Music Festival, one of the numerous grandiose projects of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
The Orchestra, conducted by Charles Dutoit, performed "Dances of Galánta " by Hungarian Composer Zoltán Kodály, a concert for fortepiano and orchestra by French composer Maurice Ravel and a symphony by Peter Tchaikovsky.
Situated at the edge of the Caucasus mountains` tree-covered foothills, the Gabala International Music Festival has been running for four years.
The festival provides free open air concerts in the Azerbaijani countryside, reaching many locals who would otherwise never see a classical music performance.
Acknowledged as one of the UK`s most prestigious orchestras, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra enjoys an international reputation for bringing audiences worldwide first-class performances and the highest possible standards of music-making across a diverse range of musical repertoire. This was the vision of the Orchestra`s flamboyant founder Sir Thomas Beecham, whose legacy is maintained today as the Orchestra thrives under the exceptional direction of its Artistic Director and Principal Conductor, Maestro Charles Dutoit.
