An original exhibition called "Joined bridges" organized by YARAT Contemporary Art Space non-profit organization will open in Baku Museum of Modern Art on May 15-June 15.
The exhibition will feature not only works by Azerbaijani art figures, such as Aida Mahmudova, Altay Sadikhzade, Aga Huseynov, Niyaz Najafov, Rashad Alakbarov, Farid Rasulov, Orkhan Huseynov, Nazrin Mammadova, Ramal Kazimov, but also Sarah Lucas, James Turrell, Annie Morris, Alexander Hoda, Olympia Scarry, Bruce High Quality Foundation, Ryan Mosley and others.
The curators of the exhibition are Executive Director of YARAT Contemporary Art Space Aida Mahmudova and British Adam Waymouth.
"This is very brave and amazing project. Such Azerbaijani and foreign painters will gather together for the first time in Baku," Aida Mahmudova said.
Aida Mahmudova underlined that the exhibition will be one of the most interesting events of 2012.
Adam Waymouth also emphasized the importance of the exhibition and stressed that he is very proud to have been involved with such project in cooperation with YARAT Contemporary Art Space.
"Yarat" is a non-commercial, private organization founded by Aida Mahmudova specifically to support the development of contemporary art in Azerbaijan and abroad, implementing its aim through organizing exhibitions, events and educational programs. These projects will stimulate and encourage Azeri artists and emphasize the idea of art as a tool to educate and bridge the gap between different cultures.
The variety of future projects will build a greater understanding and development of creative space, enabling an educational progression within a professional framework.
Founder and director of YARAT Contemporary Art Space non-profit organization Aida Mahmudova was educated in Central Saint Martins School, London.
The aim of Aida Mahmudova is to create conditions for modern painters in Azerbaijan and popularize the art among local and international auditoria.
Adam Waymouth established "Adam Waymouth Art" in 2011.
The organization cooperates with Vaymut Pertwee" , "Anderson and Gold" , "the Victoria & Albert Museum", "Shelter", "Flora Fairbairn Projects", "Gazelli Art House", "Parasol Unit and Bold Tendencie" during the last six months.
The sponsors of the exhibition are ItalDesign, Bakcell, Rapid Solutions companies and Azerbaijan Ministry of Youth and Sport.
