Sabina Babayeva will represent Azerbaijan in this year's Eurovision Song Contest. Sabina was selected in tonight's show broadcasted on Ictimai TV. The Azeri entry that will be performed by in Europe's favourite show will be chosen soon.
Five singers competed in tonight's final following a number of pre-selection shows. All participants sang a number of cover versions including Eurovision songs and in their native language. Sabina Babayeva became the fifth Azeri representative since the country debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008. The show took place at the Heydar Aliyev Palace as Husniya Maharramova, Leyla Aliyeva and Kamran Guliyev were the hosts of the artist selection show.
The judges were Ismail Omarov, Tunzala Agayeva, Zumrud Dadashzadeh, Zulfiyya Khanbabayeva, Manzar Nuraliyeva, Faiq Sujaddinov and Rauf Babayev.
Last year's Eurovision winner Ell & Nikki and 2010 Azeri representative Safura were guests of the show. This year's Maltese hopeful Kurt Calleja and Turkish representative Can Bonomo also made an appearance. Kurt promoted the Maltese Eurovision entry this is the night while Can sang his popular song Meczub. The Turkish entry for this year's contest is yet to be revealed.
Azerbaijan won last year's Eurovision Song Contest, thus they will compete in the final on 26th May.
